# What would moving to Shopify look like for you?

Paste your store's address. We read the public signals every platform leaves behind, tell you what your store runs on, and show what moves cleanly, what needs care and a ballpark for a store your size.

We look at your homepage once, the way a browser would. We don't keep the address; the answer sits in memory for 15 minutes, then it's gone.

The check runs on the page at https://nr10.com/labs/replatform/ and needs JavaScript. Stores already on Shopify are pointed to the [instant site audit](https://nr10.com/labs/site-audit/) instead: Good news: there's nothing to move. The next gains for a Shopify store are in speed, search and AI visibility, and our instant audit checks all three in under a minute.

## Signals every platform leaves behind.

Our server fetches your homepage once and looks for the fingerprints each platform leaves. No AI guesses the answer, so the same store gets the same result.

- **Headers and cookies.** Platforms name themselves in response headers and session cookies: Shopify's powered-by header, Magento's cache headers, Salesforce's dwsid cookie, PrestaShop's own cookie.
- **Asset paths.** Where the theme files load from gives the platform away: /static/frontend/ on Magento 2, demandware.static on Commerce Cloud, cdn11.bigcommerce.com on BigCommerce.
- **Generator tags and scripts.** Many platforms add a generator tag or a script object, like WordPress, WooCommerce, Wix and PrestaShop.
- **Confidence.** Each signal has a weight. Several strong ones agreeing is high confidence; a single weak one is a guess, and we say so.

It reads one page from our server. Headless stores and strict firewalls can hide the platform, and Shopify Plus is a billing plan, so it rarely shows from outside. Apps that load late or only on product pages won't show here.

## Moving from each platform

- Magento 2 stores tend to collect extensions and custom modules. In a move, each one becomes a Shopify app, a bit of theme code, or nothing at all, since Shopify now does many of them out of the box. You also stop paying for hosting, patches and upgrades.
- Adobe stopped supporting Magento 1 in June 2020, so every month on it is a security risk. The data comes out cleanly; the work is in deciding which old customizations are still worth keeping.
- WooCommerce runs inside WordPress, so a move is a choice: bring everything to Shopify, or move the store to Shopify and keep WordPress for content. We build on both, so we'll tell you which fits.
- We found WordPress but no store on it. If you sell somewhere else, Shopify can run the store while WordPress keeps the content, or we bring both together.
- BigCommerce data maps closely to Shopify: products, options, customers and orders come across cleanly. Most of the work is the theme (Stencil to Shopify's Liquid) and swapping a few apps.
- Commerce Cloud stores carry the most custom logic: cartridges, promotions and several sites per brand. Those map to Shopify Plus features (Markets, Functions and B2B) plus apps, and the license and upkeep you stop paying often helps fund the move.
- Moving from Squarespace is one of the lighter moves: the catalog is usually small and the checkout simple. What you gain is Shopify's checkout, its app ecosystem and room to grow.
- Moving from Wix is one of the lighter moves: the catalog is usually small and the checkout simple. What you gain is Shopify's checkout, its app ecosystem and room to grow.
- PrestaShop modules become Shopify apps or theme code, and multi-language, multi-currency setups map to Shopify Markets. Product combinations become variants, which we plan around Shopify's limits.
- Webflow is great for content, lighter for selling. Many brands move the store to Shopify and keep the look they love; the design comes across into a Shopify theme.
- Drupal sites with a store are usually heavily custom. We map the data model first; the extraction differs, the playbook doesn't.
- Custom and headless builds vary the most. We map your data model first; the extraction differs, the playbook doesn't.

## The data comes with you.

These come across in every move we do, from any platform. We script the export and import, run it on a copy first, and check counts and samples before launch.

- **Products and variants.** Titles, descriptions, options, prices, SKUs, images, inventory and the categories that become collections.
- **Customers.** Names, addresses, tags and marketing consent. Passwords can't move on any platform (they're stored one-way), so customers get a friendly invite to set a new one.
- **Order history.** Past orders come across so customers see their history and your reports stay whole.
- **URLs, with 301 redirects.** Every old product, category and page address points to its new home with a permanent redirect, so links, bookmarks and search rankings follow.

## Where moves go wrong.

These are the parts we plan first, because they're where a rushed move costs money.

- **Custom checkout logic.** Shopify's checkout is fast and trusted, and it's changed through Checkout Extensibility and Shopify Functions rather than edited directly. We list every rule your checkout runs today (shipping, discounts, gating, gifts) and rebuild each one the supported way.
- **B2B and wholesale pricing.** Shopify Plus has B2B built in: company accounts, price lists, payment terms and order minimums. On other plans an app does it. Either way, we map every customer price rule before launch.
- **Subscriptions.** Active subscribers shouldn't notice the move. Their saved payment details move between payment processors, not in a spreadsheet, so we time it with your subscription app and the processor to avoid missed or double charges.
- **Search rankings.** Rankings survive a move when nothing important changes by accident: every URL redirected, titles and descriptions carried over, structured data rebuilt, and Search Console watched for weeks after launch.

## Roughly how long, and roughly what it costs.

Pick the size that sounds most like your store. These ranges come from moves we've done; your number depends on what we find in a short discovery.

- **Small** (Up to about 1,000 products, a standard checkout, a handful of apps.): 8 to 12 weeks, $15,000 to $30,000. A customized Shopify theme, product, customer and order migration, redirects, app setup and launch support.
- **Growing** (1,000 to 10,000 products, a custom design, an integration or two (ERP, 3PL, subscriptions).): 3 to 5 months, $30,000 to $80,000. A custom theme, scripted data migration, integrations, subscription handover, a full redirect map and SEO checks.
- **Large or complex** (10,000+ products, B2B, several regions or brands, custom checkout rules, usually Shopify Plus.): 5 to 9 months, $80,000 to $200,000+. Shopify Plus setup, B2B, Markets, Functions for checkout rules, ERP integration, phased migration and a staged launch.

A ballpark, not a quote. Shopify's own plan fees and app subscriptions are separate. If you only need the data moved, that starts around $3,000. A store with unusual integrations can land outside these ranges either way.
